About Dr. Lauren Meeks

Dr. Lauren Meeks is an advocate for ending social, economic, and educational disparities among underserved populations. With a background in higher education, youth development, and workforce development, Dr. Meeks is committed to following and exhibiting the principles of servant leadership.
Dr. Meeks earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, a Master of Arts in Political and Justice Studies, and a Doctor of Education in Ethical Leadership. She is the author of Confessions Of A Melanated Queen: Complexities Of The Modern Black Woman, and host of a weekly podcast under the same title.  Dr. Meeks is the owner of Melanated Queen Productions, LLC, a company designed to deliver research-based content centered on issues that affect underrepresented communities.

Her research interest includes investigating the role African American parents have on the educational journeys of their children as well as understanding the various complexities of the African American family construct.
